Condolences
Mr. Strobbe was a favorite teacher of mine. He took the time to lecture, not just from the text book, but in his own words. His quizzes were his own written questions. Felt like he really cared.
My sympathy.

I met Mr. Strobbe the day before I started attending Clear Creek Elementary. It was a Sunday afternoon and I had just moved to Iowa 2 days before in the middle of the school year. He met me at the door of the school and showed me around the building while it was empty. He walked me to what would be my classroom, showed me where the bathrooms were and how how to get to the gym, the cafeteria and the playground. He was so nice and made me feel safe. I started 3rd grade the next morning and for the next few weeks every time time I felt shy or scared I would would look around for my new friend Mr. Strobbe and he would give me a little nod, a little smile and I would keep on going. It wasn't until much later I found out it was unusual for a new student to be given a private tour of a school on a weekend. But he did it for me to help me feel comfortable in his school. I didn't get to say it then but thank you so much Mr. Strobbe for helping a scared new student feel safe.
To Mr. Strobe and family. You will be dearly missed to all the students at Clear Creek. You were my history teacher in Jr. High at Cosgrove. You made the classes very interesting and educational. Mr. Strobe was also my softball coach in high school. God bless to you all.
Dear Karen, Trevor, Finn and Liam,

your father.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Strobbe’s passing. He was my principal when I was younger and attending Clear Creek schools. I remember him as being very kind and patient with students. Condolences to his family.
Mr. Strobbe, you were one of my favorite teachers !! We had so much fun in your class! Not for the class itself, but it was so fun getting 'off topic' and listening to stories of you as a teenager. My all time favorite was the one about Halloween pranks. You guys didn't t p houses or soap windows. Nope, you guys tipped over outhouses! I think the prankee has probably long gone to his reward, so I won't be ratting you out by this retelling of the one where you guys tipped it over, DOOR DOWN, and someone INSIDE started yelling!! And you snort laughed when you said ' and you know there was only one way out!!!' Oh my gosh, that's been 54 years ago and ithe memory still makes me belly laugh. You might have come across as a pretty serious guy to most people, but to us kids in that particular class you were a very relatable person, and we ALL loved you for it. Good memories--and yes! The class was good!! ;)
I know you were so lovingly welcomed by MANY, MANY loved ones when you got there. Thank you and Jan for your kindness to my Mom over the years♡♡ To family and friends, my deepest condolences. He was a GEM!!♡♡♡ Peggy Verry Hatley
Mr. Strobbe hired me for my first teaching job 29 years ago. He was a supportive and patient principal to me and was so kind and caring when my father unexpectedly passed away that year. My condolences to his family and friends. ❤️
Ray and I were in college together at the State College of Iowa (UNI). We got to know each other in many classes. I also knew and respected him as an educator. We shared many meetings together. Ray was always kind. He made a difference in his own way. He was good to be around. I join his family in celebrating his life. He made a difference in so many ways.
We were both educators which means we shared an obligation to help people learn. I think of him fondly and remember who he was by what he did. We are all better because he was here.
