Obituary of Jenni Kennedy

Jennifer L. Kennedy passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2022 in Iowa City. She was 31 years old. Jenni's family will receive guests at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service (2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City) on Monday, June 6, from 3-6 pm, concluding with a Celebration of Life ceremony at 6 pm. Jenni was born January 29, 1991 in Flagstaff, Arizona, the daughter of Charles and Kathleen Sechrist. Jenni was funny and had the biggest heart. She exuded warmth, kindness and had an infectious personality that would light every room she walked into. She loved caring for plants and recently got introduced to the world of sewing and fabrics through her sister. She loved bike riding with her husband, Luke, and exploring the various shops and restaurants of Iowa City. Jenni was a treasure and will be missed by everyone that knew her. Her light and memory will be carried through all of us. Jenni’s family include her beloved husband, Luke; sister Melissa (Jason) Pahl, mother and father, Charles and Kathleen; grandparents, Gilbert and Jean Sechrist; mother-in-law, Rebecca Kennedy; best friends Jeri Perry and Ted Brown; god children, Emmitt and Nora Brown; and dog Barley. Sadly, Jenni is preceded in death by her grandparents, Emily and James Blair. Memorial contributions in Jenni’s memory are suggested to the Iowa Donor Network.
