Obituary of Gordon W. Hull
Gordon W. Hull, 83 of North Liberty, formerly a longtime resident of Iowa City, died Friday, April 6, 2018. Gordon’s wishes were that his physical being be donated to the University of Iowa for medical research. No public services are being planned. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Gordon’s family and his arrangements.
Gordon was born June 24, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Fred and Gail (Combs) Hull. Following graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Iowa and settled in Iowa City where he attended and later received his BA degree from the University of Iowa. He was self-employed most of his life, retiring in 1996. Gordon was very active on the local and state levels of both the Masonic Lodge and also the KAABA Shrine, holding numerous offices in both organizations.
His family includes his children, Debi Hill (John,) Chris Hull (Cheryl Shigaki), and Brenda Hull; 4 grandchildren, Drew, Darby, Maura, and Daniel; and his brother Myron Hull. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Russell and Robert; sister Vergine; special friend, Rose Lipsius; and his faithful companions, Toby and Pepe.
