Gordon was a friend forever, he and Rose danced at my wedding, and attended many events through out my life . we had drinks and shared laughs and stories, he was the Iowa city grandpa to my children and loved them from the day they were born. He and Rose saved me numerous times as a sitter on a Saturday or Sunday when we were desperate and had to go to work. I still can see Gordon and my son Nick he was 3 or 4 walking on the rail road tracks hand in hand talking about trains.

He never told my kids no when they called asked him and Rose to come and see or do something at school with them. He also has a special place in the heart of my grandson Cody as his special "grandpa Gordon " for the last 9 years. thank you Gordon for being in my live all these years you will be missed we love you

A kinder man you will not find. We were lucky to have Gordon’s friendship in our lives for many years. One thing is for sure....he was a master at Corn Beef n Cabbage! We will always have a special place in our hearts for him and ALWAYS remember his quick smile and quiet laugh.

When I was 5 years old, I walked to kindergarten. A couple of neighborhood boys teased me on the walk. I told my Dad when I got home. He sat with me on the porch and taught me how to make a fist. He told me that if I decided to swing, to give it all I have and aim for their nose. I might miss their nose but I would hit the eyes or mouth. I practiced with my Dad several times while we sat there.

The next day, the boys started to tease me again. I raised my fist and told them I would hit them if I had to. Voila! No more problems walking to school! Thanks, Dad!!
