The Schuchard family will always treasure fond memories of Steve, "Papa Shook" at Haley's softball games. He loved watching the girls play ball and traveled far and wide, enduring long, hot days in the sun - always with a smile and happy to be a part of it. He was a dedicated fan who supported and connected with the girls, always cheering them on. Steve, "Papa Shook" was loved and will be missed by many. Blessings to Steve's family.
I had not seen Steve in years, but he was a great guy who I spent a lot of time with when I was a kid. My mother (Karen Morgan) worked at the meat locker in Wapello with Steve. I would take the bus to the meat locker after school and spend the rest of my time with him watching him work. He was so patient with me and I remember having so much fun with him. He would later refer to me as "the professor" when I got glasses at a young age and was not happy about it. I think now it was his way of trying to cheer me up and make me feel special. I am so sorry for the loss, Steve was a great guy. Always could make you laugh, and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed by many.
Oh girls, we are so sorry for your loss. We were only around Steve a few times, but they were always a fun time! I will always remember that smile he had. Your days ahead will be of lots of emotions, but remember your family and friends are around you. Thinking of you, Casey, Kendra, Kayla and all of your family. Our sincere sympathy to you all.
I was shocked and saddened by the sudden loss of a great father and grandfather. He will be missed. Take consolation in the great memories of his time with each of you. Jim and I are so sorry for all to hear of your loosing Steve; Always enjoyed seeing and the sort visits. He seemed to always be there for important things when we also needed someone around. I know anyone who knows him will surely miss him.
