Obituary of Janice L. O'Leary

Janice L. O’Leary, 51, of Iowa City passed away August 15, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a sudden illness.

A time of visitation will be held from 1-2:30 p.m., Saturday, August 19th at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City, where a memorial service will begin at 2:30 pm.  Memorials may be made to the Janice O’Leary memorial fund.

Janice L. Hooton was born September 13, 1965 in Iowa City, Iowa; daughter of Charles P. Hooton Sr. and Beulah F. (James) Hooton.  She graduated from Iowa City West High and was united in marriage to Frederick E. O’Leary on June 8, 1985 at the First Assembly of God Church in Iowa City where she’s been a lifelong member.

Her family includes her husband Fred; sons, Jesse Hooton and Steven O’Leary both of Iowa City; siblings, Charles Hooton Jr. and his wife, Harriet, Donald Hooton and his wife, Donna, Rodney Hooton and his wife, Nancy, Duane Hooton, John Hooton and his wife, Candace and Joy Wallace and her husband, Mike.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Rebecca Hooton.
