Obituary of Victor G. Greazel

Victor G. Greazel, 82 of rural Iowa City died at his home Sunday, December 24, 2006, following a brief illness. Cremation services were provided by Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City where family services have been held. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Vic’s memory to the Victor G. Greazel Memorial Fund or Iowa City Hospice. Victor George Greazel was born April 8, 1924, in Johnson County, Iowa the son of George and Rose (Sedlacek) Greazel. He married Alice Lenz in 1950, and later married Glenda Hartsock in 1969. Vic has been a truck driver most of his life in this area, retiring from Hills Grain & Feed. He is also known for his bait shop that he opened after his retirement. Hillcrest Bait was the place for old friends and faithful customers to gather and visit with Vic. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoying fishing, camping bird watching, and mushrooming. His family includes his former wife and good friend, Alice Wade of Coralville; children, Dean Greazel of Iowa City, LuAnn Stewart and her husband, Steve of North Liberty; and Jeanne Guthmiller and her fiancé, Fred Clark of Coralville; step-children, Mary Babcock and her husband, Jake of Hills, Deb Bell and her husband, Jeff of West Liberty; and Ron Hartsock and his wife, Elaine of Missouri; grandchildren, Kelli McCalla, Justin Rundell and his wife, Tasha, Tiffany McGregor and her husband, Ray, and Tanya Guthmiller; step-granddaughter, Shawna Simmons and her husband, Royce; great-grandchildren Tharian, Shian, Myron, Brenden, and Aaralynn, step-great-grandchildren, Orion, Amelia, Ellen and Jared; and his sister, Leona Weaver of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Glenda; four brothers and one sister. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Victor’s family and his arrangements.
