Obituary of Edna I. Watson

Edna I. Watson, age 103, of Oxford died Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Colonial Manor of Amana, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, July 17, 2006 at the Oxford Methodist Church, Oxford, Iowa with Reverend Diane Townsley officiating. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Sunday, July 16, 2006 at the Oxford Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Oxford Methodist Church in Edna’s memory. Edna was born to John and Anna (Haist) Grauer on November 18, 1902 in Iowa County. Edna married William Watson on December 15, 1924 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; he preceded her in death on June 13, 1982. Edna lived her entire life in the Iowa County and Oxford area. She was a member of the Oxford Methodist Church. Edna loved to garden and take care of her yard, doing so well into her 90’s. It was determination that helped her reach the age of 103. Edna’s family includes a daughter, Dolores Knowles and her husband, Bruce of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, 2 daughters, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City and Oxford is caring for Edna’s family and her services.
