Obituary of Violet Fountain Frauenholz

Violet Frauenholz, age 95 formerly of Lone Tree died Friday, June 16, 2006, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. A complete obituary will appear in Monday’s edition Violet Merle Fountain was born June 30, 1910, in River Junction, Iowa the daughter of Harry L. and Sarah L. (Gallaugher) Fountain. She graduated from Lone Tree High School in 1929. On February 28, 1934 she was united in marriage to Earl Frauenholz in Iowa City. Violet enjoyed life, from her baking, cooking, sewing, crocheting, quilting to assisting her husband, Earl in the day to day operations of farming, she loved her life. She will be remembered as an unselfish, positive, very caring lady, who would do anything for you. Her family includes grandchildren, Terri Hardy and her husband, Scott of Lone Tree, Mark Westerhoff of North Liberty, Scott Westerhoff and his wife, Angie of Riverside, Steven Sprague and his wife, Lenore of Wilton, and Kevin Sprague and his wife, Teresa of Muscatine; eleven great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Louis Sprague of Muscatine; sisters, Elsie E. Morgan of West Liberty, Evelyn “Lucy” Hesseltine of Wayland, IA, Marjorie C. Reese of Coralville and June A. Allison of Iowa City; sister-in-laws, Catherine Fountain of North Liberty, Velma Cox of Iowa City, and Dorothy McArter of Iowa City; and a brother-in-law, Frank Frauenholz and his wife, Elsie of Iowa City. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; and her daughter, Rebecca (Westerhoff) Sprague; sister, Rosa B. Poland; and brothers, James Fountain, and two as infants.
