Obituary of Georgia E. Colhour

Services will be held at a later date in Portland, Oregon. Her family includes her daughter, Violet Marie Colhour and her significant other, Renee Powers of Iowa City, IA; three sons, Harold “Butch” Colhour and Mike Colhour both of Portland, and William “Duke” Colhour of Moses Lake, WA; brother, George Brown and sister, Violet Brown both of Portland; twelve grandchildren, and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Milton and Violet Elizabeth (Rierson) Brown; and her brother, Wilder Francis “Butch” Brown. Georgia spent a good portion of her life working at the American Legion Post No. 134 in Portland, and most recently at George’s Corner Bar and Grill in Portland. Quoting excerpts from John Donne’s “Death Be Not Proud” “Death, be not proud, though some have called thee, mighty and dreadful, for thou are not so; One short sleep past, we wake eternally, and death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.” Georgia will be missed by many. In honor of her wishes, cremation services will take place here in Iowa City, with her earthly remains being laid to rest in Portland, Oregon at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her memory. Those donations can be sent to her family at 1168 E. Court Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240.
