Obituary of Irene F. Bowers

Irene F. Bowers, age 89, formerly of Coralville, died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 18, 2006 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Foundation or Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center in Irene’s memory. She married E. Virgil Bowers on August 14, 1933. Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Carnation Rebekah Lodge #376. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines. Irene’s family includes two daughters, Jean Eckhoff of Coralville and Shirley Bowers of Tempe, Arizona; two sons, Jim Bowers and his wife, Mary of DeKalb, Illinois and Larry Bowers and his wife, Renee of Agoura, California; five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, a sister and three brothers. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Irene’s family and her services.
