Obituary of Lester J. Kaeser, Jr.

His family includes his former wife, Helen Kaeser of Iowa City, and their six children, Robin Jenks and her husband, Leonard of West Liberty, Lori Harpole and her husband, Cary of Belton, TX, William Kaeser and his wife, Jodi of Shawnee, KS, Tracy Schmidt and her husband, Steve of Couer D’Alene, ID, Scott Kaeser and his wife, Mikie Raasch of Riverside, and Becky Hix and her husband, Jared of Iowa City; eleven grandchildren, Rachelle, Stacey, Christopher, Michael, Nicole, Jakob, Erik, Madelyn, Christina, Duke, and Maribeth; brother, Kent Kaeser and his wife, Judy of West Branch, and sister, Pamela Larson of Columbus, Junction, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Lester Joseph Kaeser Jr., was born July 6, 1935, in Monona, Iowa the son of Lester and Grace (Smith) Kaeser. He graduated from Iowa City City High School in 1955. He married Helen D. Kaeser, June 15, 1957 in Iowa City. The couple was later divorced in February of 1992. He worked in a number of places in his lifetime, retiring from the Iowa City School System in 1997. He had been head custodian at the Helen Lemme School for twenty-seven years. Lester served in the Clr. Co. 109th. Med B. of the Iowa National Guard in Iowa City from 1953 until 1959 and then in the Army Reserves until 1961. Lester was a member of the United Methodist Church and the VFW in Iowa City. Lester enjoyed the outdoors and living in his cabin on the Iowa River. Here he liked having cookouts with his family and friends, whom he loved to spend time with. He will be missed by all. A memorial fund has been established in Lester’s memory.
