Obituary of John T. Pepper

John T. Pepper age 79 of North Liberty died on Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home in Iowa City. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. Memorial contributions may be given to the John T. Pepper Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be sent to his family at www.gayandciha.com. John Thomas Pepper was born on September 4, 1924 in Boone, Iowa the son of William E. and Mae (Mott) Pepper. He married Norma Mae Buser on January 7, 1956 in Iowa City. He worked at River Products in Iowa City. Family members and friends will remember his ablity to fix anything mechanical including cars and trucks. John lived in Iowa City and North Liberty before moving to Brooklyn in 1999. His family includes one son: William Pepper of Richardson, Texas, four daughters: Cathy and husband Jim Strable of Huxley, Iowa, Ann Catherine and husband Frank Rogers of Vinton, Iowa, Mary and husband Elgie Garthwaite of Marion, Iowa and Susan Pepper and fiancé Jim Poggenpohl of North Liberty, five grandchildren and one sister Mary “Bessie” Pepper of Boone, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma and one grandson. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service are caring for John’s family and his services.
