Obituary of Betty M. Redig

Betty Redig, age 72 formerly of 3042 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City died Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a sudden illness. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2005, at the Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in Betty’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. She was born September 2, 1932, in Wauwatosa, Wisc. the daughter of Elvin and Hazel (Harrison) Fowler. She married Lawrence Redig in February of 1951 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She has lived in the Iowa City area since 1963. She worked as the head custodian at Shimek Elementary School in Iowa City. Betty enjoyed children, playing bingo and cards. Her family includes two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Virgil Holderness of Riverside, and Kathy and Rick Holden of North English; two sons, Robert Redig of Parnell, and Russell Redig of Madison, Wisc; eleven grandchildren, Alton Dean, Shawn, Hope Ann, Jason, Cory, Jessica, Michael, Nikki, Becki, Randy, and Sarah; twelve great-grandchildren, Chad, Haely, Brianna, Daja, Khadisa, Markell, Nabrinah, Malieyah, Arionnah, Shawna, Miranda, and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Randy Redig, and brother, Robert Fowler. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Betty’s family and her services.
