Obituary of Dean Joseph Zahradnek

Dean Joseph Zahradnek, age 79, of 1799 5th St. Apt 110, Coralville, died Sunday, July 18, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. A gathering to celebrate Dean’s life will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Private family burial of his ashes will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Dean Zahradnek Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be sent for his family @www.gayandciha.com. Dean Joseph Zahradnek was born on August 29, 1924 near Sharon Center, Iowa the son of Charles and Elizabeth Hasley Zahradnek. He graduated from Sharon Center High School and married Thelma White in 1950. Dean was a life long resident of the Iowa City, Coralville area. For a number of years he worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinic’s in the housekeeping department. He then worked for Eaves Lincoln Mercury in Iowa City and then in Building Maintaince for several apartment complex’s in Iowa City and Coralville. He retired from Plaza Centre One. His family includes his daughters Teresa and husband Bernie Dolezal of Iowa City and Donita and husband Kevin Irvin of Tiffin, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two brothers, Lyle Zahradnek and wife Phyliss of Riverside, Wayne Zahradnek and wife Delores of Sharon Center. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister. Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Dean’s family and his services.
