Obituary of Arthur E. Mencl

Arthur Mencl, age 78 of 605 Greenwood Drive, Iowa City died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at the Greenwood Manor Care Center. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Mark Martin officiating. Burial will have taken place at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. In Leiu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to his church, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Art’s memory. Online condolences may be sent to our website @www.gayandciha.com. Art was born September 25, 1925, in Oxford, Iowa the son of Joseph and Lottie (Mann) Mencl. Art worked around the community through Goodwill Industries. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, whose members have been his family for many years. In addition to his church family, Arts family includes, nieces, Neana Saylor of Iowa City and Jeanette Owen of Rogers, AR; nephews, Gary Grecian of Riverside, Mike Mencl of Alabama, David and Jerry Mencl of Rogers, AR; a great-niece, Shanna Grecian of Riverside, and a great-nephew, Jamie Grecian of Riverside. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Art’s services and his family.
