Obituary of Marjorie Rose Ives
Marjorie Rose Ives, age 91 formerly of Oxford and Hills, Iowa died Sunday, June 27, 2004 at the Solon Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at St. Maryâs Catholic Church in Oxford with the Reverend Edmond Dunn officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Oxford. Visitation will be from 4 to 8p.m. Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral Home â Oxford Chapel where a parish vigil service will be held at 8pm. Marjorie Rose Shaffer was born August 8, 1912, in Eldon, Iowa the daughter of Leonard F. and Catherine T. (Russell) Shaffer. She graduated from Eldon High School in 1928. She then attended and graduated from Ottumwa Heights College in 1930 and Iowa State Teacherâs College in Cedar Falls. Prior to marriage, she taught music in the Oxford Schools. On June 29, 1936, she married Orlo L. âFinnyâ Ives in the St. Aloyisius Catholic Church in Eldon. For many years, the couple farmed in the Oxford area. In 1992, they moved to Atrium Village in Hills. On April 27, 1997, Orlo died. In December of 2001, Marjorie moved to Solon Nursing Care Center. She was a member of St. Maryâs Catholic Church in Oxford. For over forty years Marjorie and Orlo enjoyed vacationing in Minnesota, often times with other family members. Her family includes a daughter and her husband, Mary and Bill Michel of Tiffin; a son and his wife, Robert and Marianne Ives of Oxford; five grandchildren, Chris Michel, Teresa and her husband, Bryce Jackman, Lori and her husband, Kenny Carter, Brian and his wife, Kylan Ives, and Sheri Lynch; seven great-grandchildren, Cale, Mackenzie, Morgan, Maxwell, Ashley, Zona, and Fiona.
