Obituary of Ruth E. Frank
Ruth Frank, age 85 of Iowa City died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Sharon Center United Methodist Church with the Reverend Doug Cue officiating. Burial will be at the Sharon Cemetery (Grout) in rural Johnson County. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, and after 9am Monday at the church. Memorial donations can be made in Ruths memory to the American Diabetes Association or the Sharon Center United Methodist Church. Ruth Evelyn Prybil Frank was born February 26, 1920, in Iowa City, the daughter of William and Ella (Slezak) Prybil. She was a graduate of Iowa City City High School. On February 3, 1943, she married Ray Frank in Iowa City. She was active on the farm, loved gardening and baking. Ruth was a member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, active in the community, was a 4-H leader, member of Rural Womens Club, Sharon Card Club, the 39ers Card Club, and Johnson County Farm Bureau. After her family was raised, she began working in the cafeteria at West High School. She spent winters in Mesa, Arizona for thirty-two years. Here she was active member of the Holiday Village Card Club, participated in fun nights; bingo, potlucks, style shows, and ladies exercise class. During her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing bingo and cards. Her family includes two sons, Bill of Iowa City and Tom of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Sandy Mougin and her husband, Chuck of Riverside; two grandchildren and their spouses, Diane and Scott Maschmann of Victor, and Gary and Nancy Mougin of Walford; four great-grandchildren, Trenton and Matthew Maschmann and Tyler and Nicholas Mougin; sister, Dorothy Stevens of Iowa City; three sister-in-laws, Pat Prybil of Riverside, Bonnie Prybil of Iowa City, and Loretta Stubbs of Kalona; and seven nieces and ten nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray; two brothers, Carl and Bill Prybil, a sister, Mildred Stevens, brother-in-laws, Bob Stevens, John Stevens, Russell Frank, Harlan Stubbs, and Walter Reber; two sister-in-laws, Velma Reber and Margaret Frank; and one niece, JoAnn Nelson. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
