Obituary of Merle L. Hocamp
Merle L. Hocamp, age 63 of 1060 Scott Park Drive, Iowa City, died Monday, October 24, 2005, at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville following an extended illness. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with Captain Terry Smith of the Salvation Army officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Merles memory to the Salvation Army in Iowa City. Online condolences may be sent for Merles family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Merle Lynn Hocamp was born February 25, 1942 in Adair, Iowa the son of Harold and Beryl (Kempster) Hocamp. Prior to moving to Iowa City in 1995 he had resided in Guthrie Center. Here in Iowa City he worked for Carlos OKellys for over eleven years. His family and friends remember a very loving, generous man who loved to read, listen to old time country music and enjoy the outdoors and all the wildlife that went with it. His family includes his brothers and sisters, Lawrence Hocamp of Lakeview, AR, Harold Hocamp Jr. Bill of Adair, IA, Marvin Hocamp and his wife, Diane of Roaring, NC, MarSalene Rathman and her husband, Ray of Greenfield, IA, Sally Rice of Greenwood, IN, Craig Hocamp and his wife, Kathy of Desoto, IA, and Charles Hocamp of Ashville, NC; his very dear friend, Robert Svendsen of Iowa City and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
