Obituary of Eileen L. Schuur
Eileen L. Schuur, age 81 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Iowa City died Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2003, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial at St Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Sister Agnes Giblin from St. Marys Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Friday at the funeral home. Following the services at the cemetery everyone is invited for a time of fellowship at Eileens daughters home in Cedar Rapids. A memorial fund has been established in Eileens memory. Eileen Lucille (Berreau) Schuur was born September 13, 1922, in Lake Wilson, MN, the daughter of Frederick and Earla (Heinz) Berreau. On May 6, 1942, she married Ralph Henry Schuur in Lake Wilson, MN. The couple lived in the Iowa City area for many years. For over twenty years, she worked as a nursing assistant for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, retiring in the early 1980s. In 1984, the couple moved to Clearwater, Florida where they lived until moving to Shuqualak, Mississippi in 1994. Ralph died March 29, 2000. She returned to Iowa to be near her family following his death. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Iowa City, member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She had been involved with Amway, Stanley Products, and the 4-H in years past. While living in Florida she enjoyed caring for children in her home. Her family includes two daughters and their husbands, Judith and Lawrence Donovan of Walnut Creek, CA, and Carol and Robert Turner of Cedar Rapids; sons, Ralphie Schuur of Cedar Rapids, and Robert Schuur and his wife, Rita of Chillicothe, IL; sixteen grandchildren, Daylin Thinness, Kendra Godbee, Brian Donovan, Larry Ingalls, Loren Ingalls, Carrieann Fryckman, Dawn DeShaw, Nikki Koch, Jamie Schuur, Tara Turner, Brandy Turner, Robert Turner, Brandi Turner, Lnlynn Turner, Felicia Turner, and Michael Winters; 36 great-grandchildren; sister, Genevieve Gilfillan of Lake Wilson, MN; brothers, Frederick Berreau of Lake Wilson, MN, and Joseph Berreau of Granite Falls, MN.
