Obituary of Zelda L. Kapfer

Her family includes her husband, Louie; daughter and her husband, Judi and Gary Busche of Coralville; granddaughter, Kelli Vermace of Baltimore, MD; two brothers and their wives, Doug and Ora Marie Sweet of Hiawatha, and D.F. “Dory” and Ethel Sweet of Shellsburg, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Zeithamel; parents, and six brothers and six sisters. Zelda was born October 20, 1916 in Central City, Iowa the daughter of George and Grace (Swaim) Sweet. She married Emil Zeithamel in 1944. Emil died in September of 1962. She later married George “Louie” Kapfer July 7, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford. The couple have made their home in Oxford since their marriage. For many years she worked at Owens Brush Company in Iowa City. Zelda was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oxford, and the Altar and Rosary Society through the church. A memorial fund has been established in Zelda’s memory.
