Obituary of Jean Anwyl Langstaff

Jean Langstaff, 91, of Columbus Junction, Iowa died Monday August 15, 2005 at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, August 19, 2005 at the Columbus City Cemetery with the Reverend Roger Hubbard officiating. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Jean Anwyl Langstaff was born April 20, 1914 in Columbus Junction to Halle Hilton and Mary Kathryn (Anwyl) Hanft. Jean graduated from Columbus Junction High School in 1932. Jean married Warren L. “Snooks” Langstaff on February 3, 1939. Jean taught in a one-room schoolhouse, cooked for the Columbus School System and area restaurants, and was a life-long farm wife. Jean was member of the United Methodist Church in Columbus Junction. Jean’s family includes three sons and their families; Steven and his wife, Charlotte of Davenport, their children Troy Wilken and Cindy and her husband, David Bixby and their daughter Marissa; Dean and his wife, Molly of Coralville and their children, Jodi Langstaff and Cassie and her husband, Michael Potter; Gene and his wife, Sue of Wapello and their children, Sam, Luke and Mitch; one brother Lyle “Bud” Hanft of El Paso, Texas. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Alice, a sister-in-law, Barrie and a great grandson, Dalton Bixby.
