Obituary of Robert G. Sheeder

Robert G. “Bob” Sheeder, age 69, of Iowa City died on Sunday, October 24, 2004 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Union Cemetery in Guthrie Center, Iowa. Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or to Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences may be sent for family through our website@www.gayand ciha.com. Robert Gerald Sheeder was born on April 17, 1935 in Guthrie Center, Iowa the son of Gerald H. and Clara M. Sorensen Sheeder. He graduated from Guthrie Center High School and the University of South West Louisiana, his post graduate studies where at Columbia University. Bob served his county during the Korean War and married Kay Rains on December 13, 1957 in Council Bluffs. Through out his professional career he was the Administrator for Hospitals and Nursing Homes. He worked in Guthrie Center, LeMars, Grinnell and Des Moines. Following his retirement he moved to Iowa City. His family includes his children and their spouses, Anthony Sheeder and Hope Hutman of Kensington, California, Liz and Lyle Seydel Jr. of West Branch, Iowa, Christopher and Jaime Sheeder of Boise, Idaho, five grandchildren, Beckett, Nora, Will, Joe and Nickolas, one brother Jerry and Marie Sheeder of Fort Dodge, Iowa, one sister, Joyce and Gino Zeorian of Ashland, Nebraska and a dear and special friend Georgia Welch of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kay in 1996. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Bob’s family and his services.
