Obituary of Paul H. Scott

Paul Scott, age 75, Iowa City, died at home on August 16, 2004, following a long illness. A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2004, at 2:30 PM at River Community Church, 3001 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City. The family will greet friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at the church. There will be a reception following in the social hall at the church. Paul was born on September 12, 1928, in St. Claire Shores, Michigan, to Warren and Verla Scott. He spent two years in the Marine Corps after high school, and then graduated from Taylor University in Indiana in 1953. He married Winifred Nell Murray in 1951. He worked for Procter and Gamble from 1954 until his retirement in 1988, at which time he was Personnel Manager. Paul enjoyed football, golf, fishing, boating, woodworking and ice cream. Through it all, he sang and told jokes. He was instrumental in starting the Iowa City Bible Fellowship. Paul loved people, and always had time for neighbors, college students, friends, and family. But most of all, Paul loved Jesus Christ who gave him his reason for living. Paul is survived by his wife; and four daughters, Christine Scott of Zion, Illinois; Suzanne (Doug) Oelschlaeger of Cedar Rapids; and Paula (Bill) Lynch and Becky (Kevin) Hasler, of Iowa City; and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren. The family extends a huge thanks for Iowa City Hospice.
