Obituary of Donald A. Wilkinson
Donald A Wilkinson was born on September 16, 1919 in Prophetstown, Illinois the son of Ralph and Florence Forkey Wilkinson. He attended rural schools and served his country during WWII in the Army. Following the service he worked on a dredging crew on the Mississippi River. On May 13, 1950 he married Velva Remour in Sterling, Illinois, they moved to West Liberty in 1962. Don worked for a number of farmers and at several gas stations in the West Liberty area. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in West Liberty. He loved to read westerns and had a great sense of humor. His family includes his wife, Velva of West Liberty; a son, Stan and wife, Janice Wilkinson of Hills, stepsons, Ralph Remour of West Liberty and Donald and wife, Jean Remour of Swisher, five grandchildren, Bryan Davis, Aileen and husband, Chris Davis-Kraai, Michael Remour, Ralph and wife, Shirley Wittenberg, Terri Wittenberg-Hemm, seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Kraai, Amee and Jesse Edens, Lindsey, Devon and Brittany Wittenberg and Taylor Hemm, one sister, Martha Reynolds of Morrison, Illinois along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Richard and Robert; sisters, Margaret, Alene, Helen, Marjorie; and an infant grandson, Jeffery. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Dons services and his family.
