Obituary of Eleanor L. Ulfig

Eleanor Louise Morgan Ulfig, 72, formerly of rural Blue Mound, IL and Colona, IL, died Thursday, October 21, 2004 in West Liberty, Iowa at Simpson Memorial Nursing Home. Visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Taylorville, IL from 1-2 pm on Monday, October 25. Burial and graveside services will follow at Stafford Cemetery, rural Mt. Auburn, IL. Memorials can be made to: APDA (American Parkinson's Disease Association), Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent for Eleanore’s family through our website @www.gayandciha.com. She was born on August 26, 1932 to Helen G. Morgan and Moses C. Morgan of rural Blue Mound. She attended Sycamore Grade School, Blue Mound, and graduated from Blue Mound High School. She worked at Illinois Power Co, and Decatur Signal Depot, and when it closed she transferred to the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL. She retired from The Rock Island Arsenal as a Systems Analyst Specialist. She inherited artistic talents from her father and painted oil paintings in her spare time. She enjoyed spending time at her winter home in Naples, Florida. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Davenport, Iowa, then Moline, and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Decatur, IL.. She found great comfort in her religion. She married Bernard Moss and they lived in rural Blue Mound. They had two daughters, Linda Moss and Brenda Oliver. She later married James Ulfig and they lived at Colona, Illinois. She leaves her daughters, Linda Moss of Iowa City, IA. and Brenda Oliver of Milan, IL.; three grandchildren, Amber Oliver, Sean Nelson, of Milan, and Danielle Oliver of Springfield, also a sister, Norma Beckmeier of Decatur, a brother Marion Morgan of Taylorville and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, two brothers, and two sisters preceded her in death. Eleanor had many good neighbors in Colona, and she expressed much appreciation for their kindness,thoughtfulness and assistance in her time of need. Many thanks to Dr. Carroll, Carla Lamp, Amenity Hospice and all of the staff at Simpson Memorial for making her more comfortable in her last days.
