Mary was such a lovely person! I was privileged to be able to get to know her for a while when she came to Melrose Meadows. She even played pool with us on Thursday evenings. Rest in peace, Mary.
Both Gary and Mary were dedicated Rotary volunteers with Rotary International Students. We have hosted 2 Rotary Brazil sons since! We enjoyed all of your family. I got to know Mary first as she supported the Rotary Foreign Exchange program. As we had several students, Mary and Gary supported them whole heartedly but also supported the families that hosted them. I know the students and host families will never forget their support. Second I was able to rekindle a friendship as I joined PEO where Mary was again a loving supportive sister. Her smile and friendly conversations always made me feel special and melted away any troubles you may of had. When Mary moved to Iowa City we surely missed her but we were happy she could be closer to family. Thinking of you Mike and Matt and all her extended family. She will truly be missed in Knoxville. I am glad she is at peace with Gary doing great volunteer deeds in heaven! Saddened and missing her, Susan and Gabby Helmers.
