Obituary of Milo R Dlouhy
Milo R “Butch” Dlouhy, age 74 lifetime resident of the Iowa City area died Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at his residence under hospice care, surrounded by loved ones.
Milo Richard Dlouhy was born July 26, 1950, in Iowa City, the son of Milo L and Mary E. (Harney) Dlouhy. Following graduation from University High School in Iowa City he worked for his father at Milo’s Conoco here in Iowa City. He later was employed by the City of Coralville in the Water Treatment Department, from there to the City of Iowa City Streets and Sanitation Department. He worked here until his retirement, in retirement he worked part-time at Mid River Marina.
Milo enjoyed life, nothing complicated but simple and right. He was a man of many interest, including hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, bowling, gardening and cheering on his sports teams, the Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees and Dale Earndhart. But nothing was more important than his family!
His family includes his wife, Daise Polton; children, Milo L. Dlouhy II (Shannon Grecian), Brandi Dlouhy, Dale Dlouhy (Taryn), Nathen Dlouhy (Laura), Stephanie Dlouhy, Justin Temeyer (BJ Phelps), Eric Temeyer (Jessica Stratton), and Jeff Irvin (Jenn); 29 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and his former wife, Deborah Dlouhy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, and former wife, Tanya Dlouhy.
A time for celebrating Milo’s life will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024, beginning 12 noon at the Coralville American Legion.
