May you be comforted among all who mourn.
I remember Mrs. Forsyth as an intelligent, caring teacher and lady.
My 6th-grade class at Robert Lucas Elementary (1970-71) had her as a music teacher for the first time after years with Julia Bedell. Mrs. Bedell routinely played records in most classes, and we were used to this. After a few sessions during which Mrs. Forsyth did not play records (she may not have even been aware of this practice), my class decided to "go on strike." This involved not joining in on whatever Mrs. F. asked us to sing. I was one of only 2 students who continued to participate. Mrs. F. was startled, and discussion ensued. She occasionally played records after that, and the class resumed full participation.
I crossed trails with Mrs. F. many years later and apologized for the class' behavior. She remembered the incident vividly, appreciated the apology, and was delighted to encounter me as a former student. What a nice and classy lady she was -- I'll always remember her in this way.
