Obituary of Ja'Mya Myrtle Snyder

Our beloved child, Ja’Mya Myrtle Snyder, who was taken from us too soon on July 27th, 2024 at the tender age of 11. She brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with her kind heart, radiant smile and outgoing personality. Though her time on earth with us was brief, the depth of love and happiness she shared will forever remain in our hearts.

Ja’Mya graced us with her presence on October 2nd, 2012. She was born to James and Geraldine Snyder. Ja’Mya was a smart and outgoing child with a huge personality. She was free spirited in which she gained a ton of friends. She would light up a room when she walked in and was always the life of the party. Ja’Mya enjoyed dancing, TikTok and spending time with her family and friends. Ja’Mya attended Weber Elementary School and was excited about starting her journey at Northwest Junior High School, where she wanted to run track and would have thrived academically.

Ja’Mya is proceeded in death by her great grandmothers, Rosizena Bates and Geraldine Johnson, Grandfathers Stanley Peden and Tony Maples, as well as her Aunt Iva Jewel and Cousin Marvin Cox.

Ja’Mya is survived by her Parents, James and Geraldine Snyder; Siblings, Kristie Wright, Krystal Snyder, James Snyder Jr. and Jada Snyder (Marterrial Alston); Great-grandparents, Alvin and Carolyn Halliburton; Grandparents, Jerome Bates, Pamela Halliburton, Myrtle Peden and James Idelburg; Godmother, Lasole Moore, Nieces Kassidy and Mariyah; Inseparable Cousin, MJ and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that will miss her tremendously.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Saturday, August 10, 2024, at New Creation Church in Iowa City, with a time of visitation on Friday, August 9^th. from 4 to 7 pm at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.
