Scott Alan Stecklein was born March 14, 1962, in Maquoketa, Iowa the son of Lloyd and Marian (Drish) Stecklein. He graduated from Maquoketa High School with the Class of 1980. He was united in marriage to Terri Lynn Wagner on July 29, 2000, in Bellevue, Iowa.
Scott has worked most of his adult life as a self-employed contractor for businesses and families of this area. He was a man of many talents, an accomplished bass player starting with The Shy Strangers, The Dangtrippers, and for many years The Bent Scepters. Over the years, they came close to rock-n-roll fame with signed record contracts, numerous tours, shows, and many fans. He was a talented chef and gifted photographer but also a man who could have fun playing pool, going fishing, or simply listening to his favorite music. He loved ending each day calling his family just to stay in touch. The one talent he was most proud of was his woodworking. He took great pride in his attention to detail and there are many examples of his designs and furniture within his home and within the homes of his clients. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He would lend a hand without question to his neighbors, friends and family. He would be the first to say he was so proud to be married to Terri, Dad to Autumn, and Papa to his buddy, Patrick; nothing better in his life than his family!
His family includes his wife, Terri; daughter and her husband, Autumn and Scott Schultz; grandson, Patrick Alan Schultz; his mother, Marian Stecklein; siblings, Rick Stecklein, Brian Stecklein (Joanna), Shawn Stecklein (Patti) and Tina Stecklein; sister-in-law, Laura Wagner; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Stecklein, father-in-law Bill Wagner, and mother-in-law Muriel Wagner.
