Obituary of Gerald K. Howard

Gerald K. “Gerry” Howard. Age 63 of Iowa City died Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics – Downtown Campus.

Gerry was born January 18, 1961, in Baldoyle, Dublin, Ireland the son of Edward and Bridgit (Arnold) Howard. His family moved from Ireland living in New York, and for the past 31 years, Gerry has lived in Iowa City. He married Michelle R. Kiene on July 6, 1999, in Las Vegas, NV.  He was raised in the Catholic Church, educated with a degree in Massage Therapy, had worked for a number of years at Oral B in Iowa City.  He enjoyed trout fishing, golfing, formula one racing, shooting darts and pools with family members and friends, and of course spending time with his faithful companion, Copper, his German Shepard.

Gerry’s family includes his wife, Michelle; loving sister, Ann Murphy; his nieces & nephew, Sonya Murphy, Connor Murphy, and Niall Murphy; great-niece, Maddison; cousins, Aileen and Jean Daly; Michelle’s family, her brothers, Kevin Kiene (Barb), Randy Kiene (Alison) and Doug Kiene (Diane);  many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; friends Paul McConn, Richard Caraick. Robert & Yvonne Magilton and Veronica Paris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws, Wilbur and Lillian Kiene.
