My cousin Bruce was such a kind, bright and gentle man! I remember sitting at our table in Clinton on the occasion of my 10th Clinton High School Reunion (I think) which would have been his 25th anniversary (or perhaps my 20th and his 35th?), talking about our high school experiences with my Mom (who was also a graduate of CHS, class of 1938) and Dad, and RoseMarie. I think we all shared the same geography teacher, Miss Fleming! I also remember looking at his thesis when he got his PhD, thinking how truly intelligent he was. But mainly I remember how very kind he always was to his younger cousin. His wonderfully sweet Mother was at our house for most holidays after his Father, Henry, passed away. I remember how Bruce brought my Mother, Ethel Kayser Janzen, to tears when we had an 80th birthday celebration for her. We didn't know Bruce was coming, but he made the effort, showed up at the door of the celebration and Mom was so thrilled to see him - such a wonderful gesture on his part. Through the years, I've spoken to Bruce a bit, typically when a family member passed away. I was traveling internationally when he passed so didn't realize he had left us. My thoughts and prayers are with his children and extended family. He was a special soul. .
