Obituary of Richard Bruce Beemer

Richard Bruce Beemer (better known as Beemer), 69 of Iowa City died unexpectedly on March 21, 2024.  Rick was born in South Dakota on July 9, 1954 to D.W. "Dunk" and Irene (Larrinaga) Beemer.  He graduated from City High School (Iowa City) and soon began working for Hanson Auto Body where he worked for many years.   From his work at Hanson's, he built many amazing friendships.  Anyone who knew Rick, knew he always had a project of some sort in the works!!    He would be trying to duct tape something back together.  "Duct tape works for everything!" he would say!!!  Rick was one who could not say no to someone who needed help or assistance.  He was always helping someone with something.  Rick enjoyed being outdoors.  He loved camping, fishing and a good time!!  He was the life of the party!!   In addition to his hobbies, he loved his family.   His grandchildren, Easton and Erienna were very special to him.  They made his eyes light up whenever he saw them and loved being a grandpa.  He is survived by his children, Jason Beemer, Shivonne Pope (Eric Pope), Steven Beemer,  Calvin Beemer and Jason Poggenpohl; one brother, Tom and his wife Lori, sister-in-law Pat Beemer; grandchildren Easton and Erienna Pope.   He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ray and Steve.
