Obituary of Dennis James Gaulocher

Dennis J. Gaulocher, 69, of Iowa City, died peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, March 22, 2024. A gathering for friends and family will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in the Morse Cemetery.

Dennis was born July 28, 1954, in Iowa City to parents Albert Gaulocher and Dorothy (Connell) Greazel. He graduated from City High school in Iowa City. He met the love of his life Patricia Ann Christner, and they were united in marriage on August 3, 1988. This August would have marked their 36^th anniversary. Dennis and Patty shared two daughters, Caylene and Beth. Prior to retirement he worked for Hawkeye Ready Mix.

An avid outdoorsman, Dennis enjoyed annual hunting trips with friends, camping and fishing trips with family, and tending to his vegetable garden. He loved evenings relaxing around the bonfire. The only thing he loved more than the outdoors was his family. He will be missed dearly by those lucky enough to have known him.

His family includes his wife, Patty Gaulocher; daughters, Caylene (Jordan) Bernacki and Beth (Mike) Murray; grandchildren, Jack and Kelli Murray; niece, Sherry; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Francis Gaulocher.
