Condolences
To all the Barnes family ,
So sorry for your loss of your grandpa/ dad/ brother / son/friend . Steve was a wonderful , good hearted and down to earth man, with such a love for the outdoor country pursuits. The Barnes family always showed such kind ,warm hospitality when my family visited them on the farm and hold such fond memories. Wishing you all the strength in this difficult time. Love and best wishes Miriam and Steven van Beek ( Glasgow , Scotland) Andrew and Elizabeth Van Beek ( Cedar Rapids Iowa).
God bless Steve and the Barnes Family…Great man…Rest in Peace.
Steve was a good friend we had during college. Wish I would have been able to go fishing with him or Bump.

My heart goes out to you all. Steve will be missed by many. Alot of wonderful memories were made at the farm, that I will never forget. Sending prayers to all of you during this difficult time.
This obituary is a perfect reflection of the Junior Barnes I knew. That mischievous look and slight smirk makes you thing that something, he knows about, is ready to happen. And the photo of the 18 wheeler going down the road to eternity. Two great photos that reflect Junior's life perfectly. RIP brother.
Steve was like an older brother from a different mother ever since we met during my first Iowa trip in 1979. Both our mothers were friends since the end of WWII. Lots of good memories with him during fishing trips, hunting, or simply getting drenched while in a car wash. May you rest in peace Steve. Eternal light will shine on you.
DAMN.. I have known Steve for MANY years. I guess the good LORD needs him. Great guy, Grate laugh, and a Family man. My condolences to his Family.

This is Corky (Fischer) Martin. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of cousin Steve. As we get older we lose track of cousins we grew up with as kids. The reunions we used to have with our grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins die off. I miss those. I lost my brother Steve last year. I picture him and dad , Dick Fischer, Maude Barnes, Gum Jones, and now Steve fishing by a pond. ❤️
I first met Steve at Henry Sabin elementary school, we were classmates until Steve went to West High. We had many classes together. We were teammates on South East football teams. Always very friendly and a smile on his face. Rest In Peace friend.
I met Steve in Kindergarten where we both attended Henry Sabin elementary school. He was always friendly, smiling, helpful, and athletic. He continued to be that person throughout all the years of public school.
My heart felt condolences to his entire family.
Thoughts and prayers to Stevies family.
As classmates we shared school, as athletes we shared wrestling. Off the mat, I remember Barnzy as humorous, Playful to the mischievous side and personable. He was too hard not to like.
What Heaven has gained comes at a Great loss to earth.
Rest Now Barnzy, till we wrestle again.
Steve and I were friends in junior and senior high. We connected at reunions and he was the friendly, easy going person I remembered. We both continued to enjoy sports and he thought naming my first born after Joe Torre(Torey) was cool!! Take care of each other!!
My condolences to the Barns family. Though Steve and I haven’t been in contact for quite some time I always counted him as friend. I met Steve at West High where we were teammates in football and wrestling. He helped me in both sports and was one of the friendliest guys I ever knew. RIP Steve, you were one of the good ones.
