Obituary of Harold E. Dillon

Harold E. Dillon, age 89, longtime resident of Coralville, died Friday, December 15, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Honoring Harold’s wishes, no public services will be held.  

Harold Eugene Dillon was born October 20, 1934, in Carl, Iowa the son of Harry and Hazel Dillon.  Following high school Harold enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. After military service he studied to be a land surveyor, which he became and he established Dillon Surveying. He took great pride in owning his own business and doing right with those that were his clients. 

Harold married Barbara Lynn Bigelow on February 14, 1968.  The couple resided in the house in Coralville where Harold had lived, enjoying the many good neighbors throughout the years. Harold was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing, often finding that special fishing hole while on one of his job sites!  He and Barb enjoyed so much together in their world, and seldom did you see them apart when he wasn’t working.  The couple were active members of the Coralville United Methodist Church.

His family includes his three children, Janine Sturdivant, Bryan Dillon, and Phillip Dillon (Keiko); five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, former wife, Gerri; and two sisters, Charlotte and Edna.
