Obituary of Bertha Mae Shepard

Bertha’s death came on October 3, 2023. 

Bertha Mae Shepard was born to the union of Berthine Easter (Shepard) and Arthur James Shepard in Chicago, IL. 

Bertha was a graduate of Heritage Western High School of Chicago, IL.  Bertha accepted Christ at an early age.  She was a member of Rising Star Church and Holy Christian Church.  Bertha worked at Whirlpool and Grayhound, CDL. 

Bertha Shepard was married to Michael Taylor, they had three loving sons, Michael, Ervin and Marcus Taylor. 

Bertha later moved to Arkansas and Tennessee before moving to Iowa City. 

Proceeding her in death her parents, Berthine Easter (Shepard) and Arthur James Shepard; grandparents Mr. Jessie B. Easter and Zula Easter, Peter, Annie & Scott Shepard; niece Shanlonda Latrice Gray Shepard; aunts, Marie, Pinkie, Gerthine and Dorothy; uncles, Jerry and J.B.; cousins, Danny, Wayne, Jerry, Fredrick, Gregory and Leslie Garrison and Mrs. Theresa Ann Nabors Gulley. 

Ms. Shepard leaves to cherish her memory three son’s, Michael, Ervin and Marcus Taylor; two grandchildren, Ervin Jr and Michael Jr; one sister, Annie Shepard-Johnson; one brother-in-law, Gregory Johnson from Chicago; two brothers, Arthur and Antonio Shepard and a lot of nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.   

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Friday, November 10, 2023 at The Purpose Place Church in Iowa City.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
