Obituary of Roy Timothy O'Sullivan

Roy O’Sullivan, (55) of North Liberty, formerly of Cork City, Ireland, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Roy Timothy O’Sullivan was born on February 10, 1968, in Cork, Ireland, the son of Jeremiah and Nuala (O’Brien) O’Sullivan. At 18 years of age Roy moved to the United States. He spent several years in New Jersey working at an upholstery shop before moving to Iowa where he started his own business. Roy owned and operated Hawkeye Upholstery in North Liberty for more than 20 years.

Roy was always an adventurous person. He was an avid runner in his day, and ran numerous marathons in and around the Midwest. Roy was a huge rugby fan. He also enjoyed Irish hurling. He took a great deal of pride in his Irish heritage. Roy enjoyed listening to Irish music and radio shows from back home.

Roy’s loving family includes his parents Jeremiah and Nuala. Siblings, Veronica of Iowa City. Mark (Noelle), Paul, and John (Edel) all from Cork Ireland. Also nieces and nephews, Dominic, Sarah, and David (Hannah) McCaffrey. Claire, Saoirse and Niamh O’Sullivan; Nuala Prange. Friends, Paul McCaffrey, Fiona Hegarty, Deb Gruben and Chris Parks. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Timothy and Rita O’Sullivan, Jack and Chris O’Brien.

No funeral services are planned at this time. A celebration of Roy's life will take place at a later time in Cork. Throughout his life Roy had a particular fondness for cats, he leaves behind Tiger, and Belly-Bo.
