Obituary of Yvonne M. Epley

Yvonne M. Epley, age 83 of Iowa City, longtime former resident of Solon, Iowa, died Thursday, September 21, 2023.

Yvonne Marie Loomis was born January 16, 1940, in Redwood City, California, the daughter of Eldon and Minnie (Rasmussen) Loomis.  She married Donald L. Epley on August 25, 1963, in Redwood City, CA.  The couple moved to Iowa after Don accepted a position with the University of Iowa.  The couple made their home in Solon where their property was known as June Acres – the Morgan Farm.  This was Yvonne’s heaven, raising horses and all the hard work that went with it.  She was an excellent seamstress, often making Don’s sports jackets. An excellent cook and gracious hostess, she thought laughter was the best medicine and herself had one of the greatest laughs!

Her family includes her husband of 60 years, Don; 2 nieces and one nephew, Debbie Brenkman, Susan Epley, and John Brenkman; 2 great-nephews, Benjamin Brenkman and Samuel Brenkman; and great-great-nieces Ava, Isabella, Anya, and Eliana Brenkman and great-great-nephew Abraham Brenkman.
