Obituary of Kimberly Ann Streeby
Kimberly Ann (Radosevich) Streeby, 52, of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 6th, as a result of chronic illness.
Born in Iowa City to Barbara Ann Hill on December 10th, 1970, She graduated from West High in Iowa City in 1989, later earning an A.A. from Kirkwood Community College. In 1989 she gave birth to her first child, Brittany, and, having been an only child, embraced motherhood and the larger family it gave her. By summer 2002, she had four children, all of whom she nurtured and supported with care and understanding; succeeding in raising them as she had wished to be raised. She worked for many years at various law firms, enjoying the ability to use her sharp wits that each day offered. She then moved to the University of Iowa, working first in the Office of the Dean of Medicine, before finding a home grant writing for the Department of Physical Therapy.
Kim was an avid rocker, and traveled throughout her life to see concerts ranging from Pink Floyd to Dave Matthews. Foremost among these was Dead and Company, which she enjoyed with many loved ones. These performances left her electrified, and the powerful community embraced and loved her. She was also a lifetime Hawkeye fan, and would, without question, be the loudest voice in the room cheering on her beloved football and basketball teams.
Blessed with a voyager’s heart, she had a restless longing for travel that was an integral part of who she was. No matter the circumstances, there were always fairer weathers and sandier shores; Iowa winters could not defeat her.
By throwing everything into raising a family and working, and occupying any downtime with travel and music, she was able to cloak with purpose an immense sadness that had followed all her life, eventually claiming her far too soon. She fought longer and harder than anyone we know, and although her family will have scattered hearts forever, we’re relieved she knows peace.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, George Hill; grandmother, Annabel Hill; stepfather, Stephen Radosevich; aunt, Janet Berry; brother-in-law, Eric Streeby; and her beloved puppy, Lucy Bells, among many more animal companions she adopted and loved.
She is survived by her children, Brittany Davis of San Diego, CA, Avery Streeby, Wyatt Streeby, and Evan Streeby of Iowa City; her mother, Barbara Hill of Iowa City; former husband, Patrick Streeby, of Iowa City; and beloved friend and partner-in-navigating-this-silly-life, Matt Hornaday, of Davenport, IA.
A celebration of life will be held on October 21st, from 11 AM - 1 PM at the Ned Ashton House in Iowa City. All are welcome to attend.
