I just learned of Scott's passing. We went to Iowa City High School together, where Scott was very energetic and comical.

We will miss you, Scott.

Scott was the epitome of warmth, positive energy, and side splitting humor! I just caught up with him for the first time in decades at our recent City High Reunion! Just, wow! Our rapport was amazing. Scott encountered many adversities, and yet, he was on the top of the word! Scott and I had met shortly after his family had moved to the Iowa City area. We began our life-long friendship together as boy scouts. We trapped the creek of our farm, and sold pop-corn and hotdogs together every year at the Iowa Hawkeye games. We worked together at our good friends' family restaurant and spent many evenings - and well into the night plotting ways to make our fortune and take part in those silly things young men do. After college I had moved to Des Moines and Scott came to stay with me while he gathered funds to move to Japan. We lost touch as people do, but our brotherhood never suffered. When he returned to Iowa after many years away we did our best to catch up whenever possible. I have more memories of time spent with Scott than I could possibly relate and just as many that I'll never forget. RIP Scott, my "half-year brother of a different mother" as he would often refer to me as. Love you. Will always miss you.

I first met Scott when we worked together at Hardee’s. I loved his energy and humor. He was so much fun, a hard worker and always had a smile on his face. I was fortunate enough to reconnect with him these last years after he returned to Iowa. We had some really good talks that I will hold close to my heart. Rest in peace, friend— you deserve it.

Scott and I met at Southeast Junior High, became friends, and played sports together at City High. We reconnected when Scott came home from Japan and I have happy memories of the time we spent together. Scott was a kind, fun-loving guy who faced challenges and adversity with a positive attitude. Although Scott left us far too soon, his memory will remain. He was truly unforgettable.

Scott and I met in High School but quickly forged a lifelong friendship. We spent many hours goofing off and just enjoying our youth. We worked part-time jobs together and even dated sisters at the same time. Although our lives took us in different directions, we were able to reconnect in our mid-50s and two things remained unchanged about Scott, his wonderful smile and his infectious positive attitude. It was my honor to have known Scott and even greater honor to call him my friend. RIP my friend, you will forever be in my heart and mind.
