I remember Fred well. He was in our U-High class of 1949, not 1947 as reported in the obituary. His loss sadly means there are not many of that era left. I recall an incident with Fred, Hank Louis, and myself where Hank asked if Fred any farm left. Apparently, he lost more than a few acres to highway construction.

Gene, my condolences at the passing of your dad. I have no specific memories of your father to share, but recognize Johnson County has lost another farmer, for which there will never be another to replace him or his contributions to the community.

Sorry for your loss. I was on my cb radio one nite and got a call over the air to have me call him cause his son was stuck and need him to bring the tractor with a log chain to pull him out. Be well gene We bought seed corn also.

Fred was one of the best neighbors anyone could ask for. Growing up, I was fortunate to know and learn from Fred, his parents and his whole family. He brightened the lives of all who knew him.

Merrilee & I could say so many good things about Fred but it's easier to simply sum up our thoughts by saying, he was one the nicest, kindest, thoughtful men we've ever had the privilege of knowing. Our thoughts are with Marilyn and the entire Chabon family.
