Condolences
I am shocked and my heart hurt so much right now. I enjoyed coming to your office with all my kids. I didn’t understand why nobody was returning my calls for so long. I stopped by again only to hear the sad news. You were a caring person and made my children feel so comfortable. I started referring so many families to you because I knew they will love you. Rest well.
Sincere condolences to the family. ❤️
We moved to Iowa 34 years ago. My husband had a toothache and we started calling dentists in the area. Being new we had no care established with anyone. Noone was able to see him and suggested the ER. When we got Dr. Caldwell on the phone, she said "I need to go home to feed my kids but will be back to open the clinic for you". Need I say more?!! This is Benita being her normal self. She was a kind, intelligent, caring human being and the world was richer and better for her presence in it.
I just learned of Benita's passing and am sorry I did not attend the service. Like any number of others, I first became acquainted with Benita as a dental patient. But over the years, it was obvious that she was so much more than a very good and dedicated dentist. I watched Benita and Royal raising two wonderful and talented daughters (I remember a very young Assata peering in my gaping mouth and I like to think that that inspired her later skills at biological illustration... probably not). Benita was so selfless and stoic when it came to her own issues, even while she would chat long about the progress of her family and the needs of others (such as the free clinic and other social justice activities she participated in). Simply one of the best human beings I have had the privilege of knowing. All my condolences to Royal, Alex, Assata, and the rest of the family.
I just came across this sad news of Dr. Caldwell. She's been my dentist since 2014, and I always looked forward to my visits with her. She was always asking about my two children (ages 5 and 2) and telling me stories of her time raising her own daughters and more recent stories of time she spent with her grandson. I've lost a competent, kind, and caring dentist, but it feels more like I've lost a family member. My condolences to all who are grieving her loss.
My Auntie Benny is the warmest kindest soft spoken person you'd ever meet a couple of weeks ago I was visiting my Grandmother and I was leaving and my Auntie Benny and Assata was arriving I got a hug from both of them and I will cherish those hugs for ever I was blessed that day to see them both love you Uncle Royal Alex Assata and family rest in peace Auntie Benny
I am so sorry for your loss! Benita was so much fun on our crazy Girl Scout trip so many years ago - I'll always remember the white water rafting experience with her!
Dr. Caldwell was the dentist for my two sons and my nephew growing up. She was always so patient, kind, and gentle while treating them. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace.
Benita was always nice and sweet to me every time we met. My love goes out to Royal, Alex, Assata and the rest of Benita’s family during this time.
Our condolences to our whole family for the loss of our Aunt Benita. May she rest in peace.
Benita was my family's dentist. She went above and beyond to help if there was a dental emergency. She was always kind, patient, and caring. She made you feel like you were a member of her family. We're grateful to have spent time with her outside of her dental practice. She will be sorely missed. Her radiant spirit will forever shine on. Rest In Peace Dr, Caldwell

our sister, Dr. Benita, Hernandez, Caldwell is a beautiful, soft, spoken, gentle soul. She taught me so much about life. Benita overcame many obstacles to achieve goals in her life. Always helping to empower women and fighting for equality and justice. Sister Benny as we called her. She and her sister, Juanita, were identical twins. And many of our siblings could not tell them apart so they were both called twin..Family was everything to Benita. She was our angel for 70 years, now she watches over us from above. Rest in peace little sister, we love & miss you already.

Benita had a heart of Gold, always willing and ready to help. Gone but will not be forgotten.. Rest Easy!
Dr. Benita Caldwell is one of the kindest people that I know. Caring, loving and puts others needs before her own. She’s the best Sister-In-Law that anyone could ask for and she’s a good friend. The Bible tells us about a friend that sticks closer than a brother, well that’s her. Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: And there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Dr. Benita Caldwell is a pillar of strength in the family and in her community always showing love and compassion .The world has lost a jewel but God has gained angel. You’re already missed and I love you so much. Our deepest condolences to the family.
