Obituary of Michael F. Gerot

Michael F. Gerot, age 56 of Iowa City died suddenly Sunday, April 9, 2023.

A gathering time for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 29^th. beginning at 10:30am at the VFW in Riverside, with Military Honors rendered at this time.  Burial at a later date at the Nashville National Cemetery in Madison, TN.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Michael’s memory.

Michael Frederick Gerot was born November 13, 1966, in Dubuque, Iowa.  Following graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Army serving one tour of duty during the Desert Storm.  Returning to this area he worked as a mechanic and gunsmith during his working years.

His family includes his wife, Tonia Gerot; sisters, Alicia Yeggy and Dawn Yeggy; uncles, Richard Gerot, Jerry Gerot (Marsha), and Steve Gerot; and numerous cousins, including Diane and Dave Fountain.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Gerot, and uncle, Dale Gerot.
