Obituary of Louis A. Cook
Louis “Louie” A. Cook, age 77 lifetime resident of Tipton, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Cedar Manor Care Center in Tipton, following a short illness.
Louis Anthony Cook was born August 7, 1945, in Iowa City the son of Louie Earl and Mary Ruth Virginia (Alberhasky) Cook. Growing up in Tipton he attended schools there. For many years he worked at the Group Outreach Center in Tipton.
Louie was a fixture of Tipton, most everyone knew our “Gentle Giant” Louie, if you didn’t you were missing one very interesting, loving, funny, caring, quirky soul! He enjoyed life like many of us wish we could, with very few worries in his world. He liked so much, the simple things in life, for instance. Riding his bicycle, picking up cans to recycle, eating his favorite food, chicken from KFC, going for a ride in a truck or car (especially a convertible), collecting hot wheels, watching westerns on tv, dancing and singing to Elvis, (even doing the Elvis shaking), holding babies, and of course being the true gentleman that he was, kissing the hands of ladies he would meet, a true ladies man he would explain! But nothing was more important and brought him greater joy than his family. The many trips with his parents in their RV across the United States, wintering in Florida, the many family parties; with 7 siblings and their families always a good time and many beautiful memories to be made. And every family member knew, if they went somewhere on vacation and promised to bring him something back they best do it or go back and get it!
His family includes his siblings, Steve Cook (Cindy), Sherrie Falkers (John), Nancy Koerner (Dr. Ted), Sue Molitor (Dr. Jerry), Mike Cook (Deb), Linda Gradeler (Eric) and Chris Cook (Carmen); Nieces and Nephews, Shane Cook, Ben Cook, Angie Thumann, Jeff Falkers, Brett Young, Amy Lusche, Jack Koerner, Steve Spengler, Jason Spengler, Zach Molitor, Nicole Molitor, Kelly Thomas, Jeremy Cook, Danielle Karch, Melanie Gradeler, Tiffany Gradeler, Caitlin Stein, Seth Cook and Cole Cook; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents and his infant nephew, Robbie Cook.
Private family time is planned to celebrate Louie’s life. Memorial donations can be mailed to the funeral home to be passed on to his family to donate to causes that were important to Louie.
