John William Grace II, was born November 10, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of John William “Bill” Grace and Betty Lou (Small) Grace. Growing up in Tiffin he attended Clear Creek Schools, graduating from Clear Creek High School in 1986. He then attended Coe College. In high school he played baseball as the catcher and was an outstanding football player; and when he went on to Coe College where he played football. In the work world he worked as an excavating contractor, a time for U-Haul and has had a lawn care and snow removal service for many years in the area. You could always tell John’s lawns by the lines, to say he was a perfectionist was simply calling it like it was. John took great pride in everything he did. Many referred to John as “Mr. Tiffin” because of how he loved his hometown and cared for it.
John was a larger than life type of man, when he put his heart and soul into something, hang on he just didn’t do it, he did it 110% and more. Some of the many things that John has enjoyed over the years, an avid body builder claiming the title of Mr. Iowa two years straight, 1995 & 96. He was a semi pro jet ski racer, scuba diving, collecting antiques, the Iowa Hawkeyes Men’s Basketball, Seattle Seahawks, playing the drums, UFO’S, Sasquatch-Big Foot, traveling the United States, Lord of the Rings, dogs, cats and horses, and fishing. John was especially proud of his membership to the Tiffin Lions Club, as one of its charter members in an organization that did so much good. You see John was a man that was more concerned about others than himself!
John’s family includes his wife, Tina; sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Litwiller (Mike); nieces, Alyssa Tjader and Grace Litwiller; nephew, Zachary Litwiller; Tina’s family, her parents, Kathy and Mike Wyatt; brothers, Jared Jacobsen (Jessica), Justin Jacobson (Ashley) and Joel Jacobson. John was preceded in death by his parents.
