Obituary of Mary A. Seydel

Mary A. (Bollinger) Seydel, age 94, longtime resident of Iowa City died Monday, December 12, 2022, at Highland Ridge Senior Living Community in Williamsburg. Graveside Services 10:30 am Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to Zion Lutheran Church of Iowa City, her home church for many years. Hightshoe was born July 17, 1928, in Washington County, Iowa the daughter of Alvin and Elsie Carolina (Maske) Hightshoe. Growing up in the Wellman area she attended and later graduated from Wellman High School. She was united in marriage to John Neal Bollinger who they had three sons, John, Richard and James. Her husband, John died in 1974, she later married Sylvester Seydel and his death occurred in 1986. She raised her sons, and then worked at Moore Business Forms for over 20 years and then for Sears until retiring. Her family includes her three sons, John D. Bollinger, Richard A. Bollinger (Barbara), and James A. Bollinger (Emma); four granddaughters, Sherrie Bollinger, Lori Bollinger, Rosa Dominquez(Pedro), and Ruby Bollinger; four great-grandchildren, Georgia, Kail, Lane, and Gage; Mary’s sister, Lorraine Turnipseed and brother-in-law, Melvin Schemmel. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, siblings and their spouses, Clarence Hightshoe (Alda), Helen Marine (Marion), Wayne Hightshoe (Dorothy), Martha Schemmel and brother-in-law, Richard Turnipseed.
