Obituary of William "Bill" J. Rogers

William “Bill” J. Rogers passed away in the arms of his beloved on August 13, 2022 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was 70 years old. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, August 25, 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church (4330 St. Patricks Dr, Iowa City). Bill’s family will receive guests for visitation at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service (2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City) on Wednesday, August 24, from 4-7 PM. Memorial donations are suggested to the Iowa City Animal Shelter. Bill was born November 23, 1951, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Leona Rogers. Bill was a laid back and easy-going man who always managed to find the kindness in others. He loved collecting a wide assortment of items; from license plates and movies to anything Coca Cola related. He looked forward to going to the Iowa State Fair every year with his girlfriend, Dianna. In fact, he and Dianna looked forward to attending most events in Iowa during the summers, whether that was seeing the various car shows or going to the Old Threshers. He also enjoyed working in his yard and around the property when he could. Bill was a gentle soul, and his legacy will live on through all that loved him. Bill’s family include his beloved girlfriend of 30 years, Dianna; his sister Dolores (the late Leonard) Vorel; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. Sadly, Bill is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Ann Verscha, Rita Verry and Fran Wenman. Please continue to keep Bill’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
