Obituary of Marjana S. Lamp
Marjana S. Lamp passed away July 22, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She was 88 years old.
Marjana’s family will receive guests at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation (2720 Muscatine Ave., Iowa City) on Thursday, July 28th from 10-12 pm, concluding with a service at 12 pm. Marjana will later be laid to rest at the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery in Muscatine, Iowa. A memorial for donations has been established in her honor at the River Community Church, 3001 Muscatine Avenue, Iowa City, 52240.
Marjana was born October 27, 1933, the daughter of Clifford and Velma (Hartsock) Smith, Sr. Marjana graduated from City High School and married Gale Patrick “Pat” Lamp on January 30, 1954, at the First Baptist Church in Iowa City. Pat passed away on June 1, 2005, after 51 years of marriage.
Pat and Marjana moved to Muscatine with their two daughters in 1960. Marjana did bookkeeping and other office work for many years, then joined her husband at Pat’s Repair Service, the business they owned and operated until they moved to Arizona in 1979. They owned and operated two businesses there until 1997 when they retired and moved back to Muscatine.
Marjana loved a hot card game, board games and crossword puzzles. She spent many hours knitting and crocheting, while watching Iowa Hawkeye football. She was a member of Women of the Moose for more than 25 years. Marjana also spent a lot of time volunteering at River Community Church.
Marjana’s family includes her daughters, Marcia (Gary) Fletcher of Muscatine and Karen (Bill Ciaccio) Lamp of New York, NY; brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Fisher and many nieces and nephews. Sadly, Marjana was preceded in death by her husband, Pat; sisters, Mary Elizabeth (Lee) Farnsworth, Lily Mae (Pat) Parrish, Maxine (Ed) Meyers, Betty (Dave) Brenneman, Luella Jean (Carl) Holmes, Florine Roegler and Velma Fisher; brother, Clifford “Sonny” (Mary) Smith; and parents, Clifford and Velma Smith.
